well if its a draw knife can ya tell me what kind?  any advice would be appreciated, straight/curved blade, blade length,  some makes state a rockwell hardness,  and i have seen a range of bevel angles from 20 to 40 degrees.  whenever i want to buy something i put way way to much thought into it probably, but money is to tough to come by to spend without doing my homework first.

I buy the one at yard sales and flea markets.
I like old tools.
You can feel the quality.
make sure the edge is not all chipped and pitted.
E8ay is a good place to look.

$25-$50 should get you a good one. Shipping maybe a little more.

Contact this cat thru a PM and he will have a good one for you.

We took a road trip this weekend and that was my goal to find some old tools. I did some good pickin at some old rusty gold stores and at a trade day........I gotta go back to that place,7 acres of goodies. I picked up some nice ones 95 bucks total.

Echatham

West Texan you don't need ALL of them do ya?!    :goldtooth:
second one down looks like a dandy.  i never find anything good at yard sales or flea markets.... and if i do they want a fortune for it.  last thing i picked up at one was an old army issue machete... dude said 25 bucks, i put it down... they are only 20 at the army navy surplus store.

Echatham

two tracks i sent him a pm, we'll see what hes got.

I would get a Nicholson #49, you won't need the #50. I have both and seldom use the #50.

I like a heavy, straight blade draw knife with the handles on the same plane as the blade, not tilted up or down. I have several I like, just like the second one down in the above picture.

I just use my old Buck knife and pieces of sand stone I dig out of the river:) Why ya wanna go high tech, son? :)  LOL

First place to look, Echatham, is flea markets or second hand tool stores. Those old d knives are special. Jawge
