Some of you may already have this. My friends Darryl and Gary talked me into using this setup. The BW guys use this in their shop.

Bottom pic is upside down.
When working on bows and trying to brace heavy bows it saves the body.
The boat parts are cheap maybe $3.50 each at Wally World.
Bolt them to any vertical e surface.

That is a great idea and wouldn't stress a new bow like push/pull or step through and it is more convenient than a stringer.

Looks like a great idea - thanks!  What exactly are those things?

macbow

They are the V roller on the front of a boat trailer.
Wal-mart has them in their boat stuff.

This is the small size, for recurves might want the next larger.

I put mine about 27 inches apart. Works for bows 68 to 54 inches long.

That's an awesome idea.  I will for sure have a set.  Thanks for the help.

cool...I asked Marc how he got the string on his crazy static recurves years ago...he uses something very similar... I need one for sure...
thanks.

I first saw that set up when Ray Grenier who first owned lost Nation Archery had it in his bow making shop...very good system...his was adjustable for different lengths and style bows

Roy Hall and Bob Sarrels both have similar set-ups.  It's a great idea.

Thanks for reminding me- wanted to build one since I`ve seen it in the alberti archery vid on youtoube and planed to build one on of my own ever since...

To make an adjustable version the,top roller is bolted to a short length of flat metal then the other end bolted to the bench post etc. leaving the end bolted to post loose enough to pivot.

Excellent idea, I'll get one setup for sure.
Thanks for the tip!

Most ALL the bowshops (back in the "pre-compound" days) used this set-up to brace and unbrace bows. ................... showing my age!   :goldtooth:
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!
