Making progress on my elm bow but...

Thanks again to a lot of great advice and encouragement from you guys. As far as I can tell I have the back in one ring, got the MC down to 10%, and started floor tillering it. It's 66" tip to tip. Thought I should ask about this knot close to the edge before I go any further.  It's 15" from the fade, just a little past where I started the taper to the tip.  The wood is 1/2" thick there and I don't see the knot on the belly.  My limbs are still 1 7/8" to about mid limb and 1 5/8" at the knot so I think I could still narrow it if you guys think that I should remove that knot.  Beyond that, I'm going to buy a heat gun and make a caul to try to bend the tips enough to flip them.  Never done that before but I've seen some good posts on here about how to do it.  This stave has about an inch of reflex in it already.  Would it pay to heat temper the belly also?  Thanks again and Happy Fourth of July!

That knot is not too close to the edge. Is that first pic the back or belly. If it is the back chase the rest of that ring that is going around the knot.

Sure enough, I'll be chasing the next ring.  I must have done it while rounding the edges.  These rings are very thin.  Oh well, I need the practice anyway     :rolleyes:
