The first one of these I did fitted up ok but just a bit loose. I figured I needed to be sure my first layer of the wrap was good and tight so that it conformed to the tenon well. And everything went well until it was time to get the thing apart. At one point I had it C-clamped to the workbench trying to get it apart with no movement. Finally a few good warps with a dead blow hammer and I got it to move. A real tight fit  :scared:  A little sanding here and there I got the fit satisfactory. I sealed it with CA glue and put on a coat of paste wax made it work smooth.
I has tulip veneer on the front and wormy maple on the belly. I decided to go with Truck bed paint on the grip then sprayed over that with clear finish.

Very nice.  I like a takedown that you can't tell is a takedown.

Thanks. Actually the grip feels pretty good. I think the plus side to no leather is it wont hold sweaty hand scent and should not get ugly after time. It took several light coats of the paint to fill everything in good. I may try a sandable primer on the next one for the filling properties.
