After a friend saw the pink longbows i made for my daughters, he asked me if it would be possible to make his wife a bow.

She lived in and went to college in Texas so i went with Texas ebony for the riser.

I went with a veneer of juniper for the back and white glass for the belly.

I spent a lot of time on Dick Wightman's site in his gallery of bows trying to figure out the stack.

Back to belly...
.050 clear UL glass
.030 juniper veneer
.130 lamboo  .002 taper
.130 lamboo.  .002 taper
.050 white glass

.390 Total stack with. 004" taper

I went with a shorter riser to keep the grip small so i shimmed around it.  Worked good with no gaps.

A little work really brought the grain of the riser.  Almost hate to cover it up!

But...i did have these laying around.  I used the one on the left.  It's multispine stingray skin.

And when on the bow looks like some serious bow bling.  It looks like it's jeweled.

I first cut nocks in making it 64" but came in at #20 before rounding limbs and finish sanding so i cut it to 62".  Came in at 24@25".

Awesome bow and that's the coolest handle wrap I've ever seen.

Wow.....that's a looker!  I've got a HH Half Breed in the works with a Tx Ebony riser....hope it looks half as nice as the piece yours was cut from.  Unfortunately, my Elk grip isn't going to hold a candle to that Stingray.  She ought to be mighty happy!

Thank you for the complements.

I know the HHA Scirocco had a stingray skin so when i came across this stuff i had to buy it and try it.  I really like it.

That is a very cool bow! Tx ebony is my favorite handle wood. I especially like to use it with some sap wood showing.  I like the Juniper in the limbs too but the stingray grip is what really sets this bow apart. Where did you find it?

I got the skins at Tandy Leather Factory.  It was half off so i couldn't resist.

I'm thinking of regripping it and cutting the fold at the top of the grip off.  I did that to increase the size of the shelf a little because the owner to be is a new to archery.   What do you all think?
