Well I made to many changes after buying my lams. My draw weight is currently #70 @ 28". I was originally shooting for #55, but I will settle for closer.
I have a 66" longbow that is 1 3/8" at fades with 1/2" nock. Can I go skinnier with out losing stability? Also I have a .002 taper lam with an overall stack of .266". I considered trapping but I have a .020" bubinga veneer with bamboo core.

How did you get that kind of weight with a .266 stack? What does the bows profile look like?

70# with total stack of 0.266"....sounds like it is a pretty radical design to get that much weight with that low of a stack.  What does the profile look like?

On a straight longbow or a mild r/d, I'd say go ahead and keep narrowing the limbs until you drop weight, but 70 down to 55 is a big drop and if this is a real radical design, I don't know if it could be done.  It might help if you could post a pic of the bow's profile and maybe someone else can offer up better advice.

I guess Cory and I were thinking the same thing and I type too slow.

John, You  just get long winded at times    :bigsmyl:   I mean  explain things better than I do.

I am sorry I meant to put in total stack of .420.
I forgot to add the parallels.

Ah that sounds better. I think you could taper from 1 1/4 at the fades down to your current 1/2 inch tips then trap the back. It will get you closer to your 55 but you will probably be around 62.
Or you could find a bad ass buddy to give the bow to and make a new one for yourself.

Toxophilitis

How much do you take off in trapping? I don't really want to expose the bamboo core?

I have cut anywhere from 8-10 lbs trapping and then a couple more from final sanding of the limbs.  Like Cory said it will probly only get to around the lower 60s...
