Shellac isn't close to being waterproof and will turn white when it gets wet. Might spray a few coats of spar over the shellac just to be on the safe side.

Very impressive bow, as nice as I have seen lately.

David Flanrey

David, that is a stunning bow.  Beautiful!  Looks like a real good shooter too.

Paul/KS

Dang Dave,
That's another beauty of a bow..!

Like Eric said, shellac is more of an indoor finish tho...

DVSHUNTER

Thanks guys. I know shellac turns white when it gets wet, but it has to get really wet. I have hunted for two days in rain, snow and ice and have never had issues with the shellac. In fact at MOJAMlast year we had a rainstorm and two of my bows got left out in the rain. Still no problems. I used it as a finish on a kitchen knife though and after leaving it submerged in the sink for a few hours it turned white. A light sanding and another coat and all is well again.

pfff!! why is SHE leaving the dishes unwashed for so long- i'd get that sorted out first, then  worry about the shellac later  :scared:
fear not David- yer gotta be strong for all mankind!!  :D

Dave you should try some of that Birchwood Casey Gun stock wax. Its a combo of carnauba and bees wax. If you rubbed a coat or three on each season I bet it would never turn white. That stuff is real nice. I even use it on my poly sealed bows just for insurance. That bow is a sweety.

Fujimo, you need to meet Daves wife then you would understand.  Dave is the one that does the dishes.  ;)

i figured as much, but he's too darn busy building those good lookin bows, to waste time washing dishes. it must also be tough for her to wash the dishes- being visually impaired that is...     otherwise why would she be with that bearded viking   :D

Thats nice looking bow

If it shots 1/2 as well as it looks, nice  Will trade for a good dish washer. Dishwasher is well maintained.  Dishwasher has doubled in size since I acquired it

Beard envy is a real problem that we all must face Wayne. Green is not a good color on you friend.
Lol I tell her the beard keeps the women away.

The wife would get lost in the kitchen just trying to find the sink. Let alone the dishes. That's what I had kids for.   ;)

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Pearls, I use a butcher paste wax sometimes.
