Wood question

I live in southern Oregon. I have 4 children. So whenever I look at staves they seem really pricey. So I was wondering if anyone out there knew what wood in my local area wood make good self bows. So I can cut my own. I live in Klamath county Most of what I see out there are pine. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Not really most of them are on the other side of the cascades.

I googled trees of Oregon and found 3 right off the bat

Oak
Walnut
Yew

I know were to find oak at that isn't to far from here. Will it make a good unbacked bow? I think I read somewhere that it does. Thank you again I really appreciate it.

Oak or Maple boards from home depot make outstanding bows.  Just follow the board bow golden rule...

Straight grain, no knots
