I've been struggling with my design a little bit.  Couldn't decide what to use in the riser.  But now I have an 8/4 myrtle board enroute from Oregon.  Should be good for a few longbow risers.  Of course I have no idea what it looks like.  Taking this one on faith...

On faith is the best kind of wood.

I'm going to pull the tape off today and snap a pic of the myrtle.

Well she came in under weight by 3 pounds.  I'm going to have to redo another bow.  Back to the drawing board.  Going to start over.   I guess it looks ok.  Love the cast of the bow.

Already started its twin.   About to glue the riser and make wedges and grind aboo Lams.

Oh by the way this one that's too light is like butter

Looks great everybody.  What I like seems to change by the day.  Some days one looks great the next day it is something else.  There are particular styles that I didn't used to like but these days after learning a bit about what goes into making a bow they are all works of art.

I could be in trouble if missing by three pounds is bad unless that three pounds is 25% of the total weight.  :p

I've got handles and tips on my two and am ready to start bending them. I'm pretty sure one is going to be pretty light so it will be a practice bow.  Wish me luck.  I know everyone wants pictures!

Dmaxshawn, 3 pounds is totally unacceptable. Send it to me and I'll dispose of her for ya.

I will put that one on the rack and finish it later.  The right person will come along one day and they can have it.

Ok **** it is shipped, hopefully you are shooting it Saturday morning.
Good.  Now I have something to look forward to on the weekend     ;)   [/b]
Well guess what guys....I did have something to look forward to this weekend!!!   :bigsmyl:

When I got home from work this evening, my wife said she went shopping and bought some stuff like towels and junk for the house.  And I'm like "yeah whatever".  Then as I was headed to our bedroom to change clothes, she said "Oh, just a heads up, there's something in our bedroom we really don't need."  So I figured she also bought some other silly decoration type thing.  To my surprise, there was a long package leaning against my dresser that could only be one thing......

Cory -  The bow is AWESOME and I can't believe you actually questioned shipping it.  I couldn't be happier.  I really like the purple heart in the I-beam and belly lams and walnut has always been one of my favorites.  It has a really cool looking strung profile too.

The only down side is that it arrived when we have a -7F wind chill outside.  I did take it out for a few shots this evening and it's a joy to shoot!!  Smooth, fast, quiet and zero handshock.  50-55# spine douglas fir shafts shot like lasers out of it.  I shot until my fingers went numb from the cold.  Man, I wish it was warmer here.

I got my little girl to brave the cold for couple pics.  I'll get some more up when we get some warmer weather.

So Cory - THANK YOU!!!  YOU ARE A FINE BOWYER!

Am I the first to receive?  Makes me feel guilty about not starting my bow yet.  I've got a three day weekend coming up over President's Day, so that's when I plan to get started.

now I can relax, John. That awesome bow didn't make it to my house, as I too haven't started yet.
GREAT job on that bow, Cory !!

:clapper:  nice work. And yes as far as I am tracking you are the first to get a bow.
And that makes us 1% done this year.
