Today I continued on roughing out my elm stave. Got the lines flowing except for one tip. Some how there was a small saw mark on it and I have been trying to thin down the limb evenly to get rid of it. Here are the tips and the stave all roughed out.. Time to remove belly wood next to get it floor tillered.

Any comments or changes I should make please let me know.. Hoping this turns out nicely for **************!!!
The limbs in the pic are even... just looks off at the tips because there is twist in the stave

One tip... I may have to even this one out a tad.. its the one with the saw mark on the inside part of the bend

Other tip

This has been a blast so far... Love looking at all your guys work. Makes mine look like a 1st grader attempt

That sucks kipper! I'm still working on mine. It just won't drop any weight. It's got me nervous.

Y'all know it's still January right?  I gotta get after it if folks are already shipping!!   :deadhorse:

I'll be looking on my doorstep tomorrow afnoon for my new bow   ;)

Got some iffy sage and some good elm, can't decide what to make for my recip.   got my osage fence post bow spliced back together and i'm reinforcing the grip area.  It's gonna be sweet if it makes it so that may be an option too.

Whadya say, ******?  Wanna 100 yr old fence post bow?

here she was a year ago when i had to put'r aside:

Should get'r back on the tiller this weekend if all goes well.  Think i'll name her "resurrection" if she lives   :)

shot my first attempt about 40 time today. Still a little high on weight maybe it come down when I do some more sanding. I have also started on the back up.

Dmaxshawn

All these beautiful wooden bows are awesome.

CardboardDuck

It has well over 100 arrows through it now and it made weight... by #2...

I put some stain on-

I'm thinking I may put a little flair on it, but not completely sure yet.

CardboardDuck

Great looking bows coming together!!!

Dan Landis

Kip, sorry to see that happen to ya.  What were the rings like on it?  Got the right limb bending a little better on my osage bow that I posted yesterday and put about 20 more arrows through it today.  Hopefully that big knot won't be a problem.

Kevin, I'll take that old fence post any day, looks like it'll make a real shooter.

Bowhnt, that elm looks great to me so far.  What species of elm is it?  I'm working on an american elm Mollie and a wych elm long bow right now for plan B & C if necessary.

Dan Landis

Duck, what are the specs on your mollie, sure is looking good so far.  Started shaing mine today, since it's elm I hope I allowed enough width and thickkness to make weight.

CardboardDuck

Here are the stats -
68" TtT
4" handle
1 1/2" fades from handle
1 1/2" fades to levers
2" wide working limbs
levers taper from 3/4" to 3/8"
The working limbs are 16" and the levers are 13"
