I haven't started, but my bow season ended, so maybe now I can have a vision.

Or just an idea.

Or a single thought.....  :D
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Since finding out my recipient's name early this morning, I spent the rest of the day working my fingers to the bone in my basement shop and got a good jump on it.

This is a new design for me and I hope ******* likes it.  What do you all think of my tiller?

Well as long as the right side is the top I guess it'll work.. That's not a steel bar is it?

This will be a first for me. Although my passion in the bow building arena is self bows I'm going glass on account of time. Look forward to learning from the glass guys!

John the outer limbs look a bit stiff.
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.

DVSHUNTER

John, it looks better than last year's bow you sent out already.

I got my name late last night. Gonna research a bit and get a good start today. I've got a few staves ready to go and I drew and easy build. Your in luck if you asked for something between 20-80.

I'm still waiting on a pm from my boater to get the special instructions.

Well well well, ain't Karma just a big old ugly female dog with droopy teets. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Good shavings everyone and enjoy the swap. Can't wait to see what starts appearing out of everyone's shops.

Me, I have a hbh longbow, a bbo longbow, some ipe and boo and a hickory recurve that I am working on. One of these should make it to be my swap bow.

Kris,

Always enjoyed building selfbows, but once I went back to glass my desire to work on all wood bows went out with the bath water.

Can't say I want ever build another selfbow. Just not in my vision for now.

Retirement ain't what it's cracked up to be.

So excited I could hardly sleep last night. It's time to do some serious building. I think bamboo and Ipe with maple?walnut?actionboo? core. I better start making a form .... and ordering some matls ...

David Flanrey

Ben,
I'm with you.  I had a very hard time going to sleep with all that bow building going on in my mind.

I can't wait for work to be over today to look at my wood pile.  What to do??? What to do???  :D

Jim Rocole

got my name. got my glass on the way. Riser is glued and ready to go. I need to decide which of the lams I got from Troy are going to be used.

Well Goose, that was too much information.  I just traded with another participant as you're a bit too high maintenance.

Thanks DVS, you answered my question.   Good thing too, I've been on a Hill kick lately and was going that direction in lieu of more info.  Then again, I may do it anyway and just send you a mouthguard and a raspberry beer.

LOL  canopyboy you could be talking about the person I drew also or me.  I don't post much I mostly read.  I can't find a whole lot more about my person than the specs I was sent.

I'm considering trying to build my first glass bow in the near future but don't think I'd do that for the trade bow.  I try to build something I would like to have but I'm open to most anything as I'm not too experienced in trad bows.

I love archery and woodworking so building bows seemed like a logical thing to try but I'm really intrigued by some of the beautiful veneers people put under glass and the cool risers so I'll have to try it some day.  I have a lot of woodworking equipment so building a bow hot box would just be another fun project.  My recent retirement should also help a little with more shop time.
Ranger, I still don't know what you like.  Except that I should use cool veneers.  I guess I can work with that.  Can your teeth take a Hill style?

Personally I like all styles of bows as long as they are takedown.

Back when I used to travel alot the one piece I was shooting at that time was nothing but a pain.

After I switched back to the takedown style life became much easier.
Thank you Troy.  Take down it is, I've been meaning to learn how to make one.  Now comes the fun part.     :help:

Luckily, all this prodding did get the result I wanted.  A straight answer from Ralph:

Got my name and now I'm stuck!  Spent all morning stalking my prey and still don't know what I'm gonna do   :help:

What do you build a guy in glass that only does wood bows?  Maybe I'll just have to find some nice burly curly something with the nicest wood?    :dunno:

Oh, I almost forgot what I wanted.  Something with black glass or a snake skin on the back.  Maybe a nice r/d?  And Troy has me sold on a takedown, so if you're up for it throw that in too, will ya?
