I'm planning a ELB build and while doing some research I found that some bows made to shoot the arrow from the enter of the bow and that some are set up to shoot the arrow from the standard position with the center of the bow resting in the middle of the grip. What are the advantages/disadvantaged of each set up?

See the link below for an example of this type of ELB.

Sounds philosophical to me   ;)   I don't think there would be any inherent advantages, just personal preference and a little bit of a difference in tiller.  I think the idea of centered grip is evening up the strain, but it still won't be even because nock point will be off-center.  So back to personal preference i think:)

I design mine halfway between the two. I make the bottom limb shorter, which puts my bow center between the handle center and the arrow pass. This puts the fulcrum point of the string hand in closer proximity to the bow center, while still maintaining perfect balance in the bow hand. While carrying, I want my bow balanced on my middle finger so that it isn't always trying to tip out of my hand.

I center the handle in the center and shoot around 1.25 in above center. Jawge

There is no advantage. Jawge

In short..this is always a sticky subject, and you will soon see it in peoples responses that most people are adamantly on one side or the other. And the arguments for both are valid and both do have advantages over another. Me..Im on neither side and I do it both ways depending on the woods characteristics and what type of bow I'm making. Its all about reading the piece of wood you have, what type of bow you are making, and most importantly this is a personal preference issue, and one is not better than the other.
