arrow smithing

Hey Guys
I didnt see a section for making wood arrows,
or arrow smithing. where should i post questions about arrow building..woods weight ect:

is 600- 750g for overall arow weight good for hunting big game,
i use a glass r/d longbow #68

You could hunt anything in North America and probably on most contenents with that set up if you can put the arrow with a scary sharp broadhead where it needs to go.

Thats a combo I wouldn't want to be standing in front of. Big heavy arrow like that being pushed with that many pounds is Mastadon Medicine. So yea it would work. Most go with lighter for better trajectory like 450-500g

Thats 9 to 11 grains per pound of bow weight so it is right in the ballpark for that bow.

Hey thanks for the info, i am trying to get the weight down a little, but hard to find a wood that that is lighter,or i could buy some ready mades.
but i make my own shafts.

The powwow is also a good place to ask these kinds of questions, lots more people over there, not that the bench isn't full of great people who know an awful lot.

I shoot 600gr to 700gr cane or hardwood shoot arrows from my 55#@26" selfbows. I prefer a heavy arrow.
