I'll finish twisting a new string tonight. It will be in the mail tomorrow morning.  Recipient should be shooting it by the end of the week.

I sent my swap bow away two and a half weeks ago and on the tracking site I can see that it has arrived at the US custom office two weeks ago. This waiting until you finally get the confirmation that it has arrived safe at the recipient is almost as hard as waiting for the one you receive. Can please someone go to the custom office and give em a wake up call...

Andy they are probably shooting it some just to make sure it really is a bow.

I saw the bow that canopyboy made yesterday, and for sure someone is going to be very pleased.

Mine is in the mail. Talk about down to the wire. But she turned out a pretty sweet shooter. This was my second bow as the 1st one blew after about 40 shots. Talk about sick.  Anyway, I hope he or she likes it. I would post pics but at this point in the game I don't want to spoil the the surprise. I sent it fast so it should arrive by Thursday.
Again I would like to give Stiks and KellyG a big THANKS for the effort they have put into this. And a BIG bravo for all the fine bow builders  on this site that participate in this trade.

So....

I pulled in after a long, long day at work about 11.  Walked up to the dark front porch hoping to see something long and white.  Or perhaps a different shape or color.  I was trying to be open minded.

Nada.  Dang it all.

I opened the door, and the dogs stuck their noses out at me.  My neighbor must have brought them in since I was so late.  As I walk through the door, there was a long white tube leaned up just inside.  The neighbor must have put it inside for me!

I hurried to set my stuff down in the kitchen, turn on the lights and come have a closer look.  But as soon as the lights went on I had a feeling I the tube was too familiar.  Sure enough, I had set it there this morning to ship my bow in.

Not quite the tiki torch experience, but right up there.

But just in case my recipient is tuned in, here is "Amarillo" with his big brothers yesterday:

The story continues:

I went out to get the mail.  Maybe I have a love note from the postman saying I need to come down and sign for my tube?  Just maybe?  I've been looking for that note almost every day for the last several months when I don't see something on the front porch.

Mailbox was empty.

Oh well, maybe my bow is hung up in customs....

  :goldtooth:

And then I thought about checking the back door.  Years ago, the postlady used to drop off at the back door as she can actually drive closer to it.  When she would do that, she'd drop off the regular mail at the door as well.  The new postman usually drops it off on the front porch, but you never know.

I started hustling in the dark, and as I followed the driveway around I could see it in the dark.

Kevin, that is one sweet bow my friend.  I strung it up and pulled it back.  Awesome.  Can't wait to go shoot it tomorrow with a little light (or at least prior to midnight -- does that make it later today?)

I'll also get some better photos including a hero shot in the next day or two.

Well, I was going for something that sounded cooler than "Yellow".  My 8-year old has been schooling me in spanish.  I got the idea after someone thought yellow snow was lemon flavored or something like that.

Anyhow, to be clear, I didn't make all those bows.  One was finished from a HHA blank, and the other is a full HHA.  (As is another tradganger's in the far background.)

This was only my first successful attempt at a Hill style from scratch.

Alright, I've gotta go serve a string and get to bed.  I've used up enough 1's and 0's for a night.
