Well my first bow, red oak board, molly style #55@28, just let go of the bottom limb and almost blacked my eye. It had a couple hundred arrows through it.

Lessons learned:

1) Stronger is not always better.
(I read here somewhere that a slow arrow that hits the deer kills it better that a fast arrow that misses)

2)Dont rush the tillering, use GIZMO!

3)STRONGER IS NOT BETTER!!!
(my next one Im shooting for 40-45#)

O well I guess the first one is always a learner!

Nim-rod

Yup don't give up! Next time try backing it with real linen sold at most higher end fabric stores.I have had staves from the same tree be very good and the next one be very spongy and take alot of set. No stave is created equal. The good thing about having many staves is that I just move on to the next one and hope for the best as you should with your next hunka wood. Good luck.

I backed it with brown paper bag, 2 layers tbIII.

Cant wait to get off the stand tomorrow am so I can finish my next one!

Sucks I gotta use the wheely this weekend now though. I really wanted to get one with my own bow, maybe next weekend huh?

My first bow cracked before the first shot could be fired.  :(
My 3rd one broke after a few hundred shots.
As long as we keep learning, it's not all in vain.

PEARL DRUMS

I dont mind that crack sound as long as its my broad head going through a rib! A molly is a tough first build.
