Am thinking of leaving them off of my next form.  Anybody use a form without them and if so what were the results (consequences)?

dont think your hose will lay flat enough for good compression in those areas, you may get bubbles in limb edges..

monterey

That was always my main concern.  Just wondering what the experience of others has been.

Thanks for your comment.

Agreed, also when you put the top of the form on you may have issues getting it to sit down properly as the hose will want to roll up on the edges of the brackets (as it will have not where else to go). This is especially true on a 1.5" form.

can someone explain in a little greater detail, i dont get it- sorry!!

Robertfishes

the metal brackets that hold the form together need a spacer of at least 1/4 inch on each side  so that the hose lays "flat" with out pinching, I think I used 3/8" plywood spacers on this 1 1/2" wide form..

fujimo

ok, i gotcha
to keep the hose smooth and uninterrupted- for even pressure etc...
thanks

The pic is from a dry run, no glue..thats why there is no plastic over form and firehose

monterey

That's a nice looking form.  And, maybe the 3/8 inch spacers are a better way to go.  It sure looks nice and clean at the brackets!

kenny, I quickly made those from scraps.. they do work nicely.. and thats the form I made using the template I got from you. if you look at the bottom left of the form you can see a small piece (3" x 5") of 1/4" plywood screwed to the form, that keeps the form from tipping over in the oven..been meaning to screw another piece on opposite side of form. Also thinking about something different for lam movement instead of the washers, I saw a pic somewhere of what I want on another thread..looked like a piece of slotted mini U-channel, will post pics when I make the mods to the forms I have
