I've got an older Bear Montana that I got in a trade this spring.  I decided to wipe it down the other day with some orange furniture polish in a spray can.  I've used this stuff on my other bows and ILF limbs no problems. After the wipedown I find that all the specs on the lower limb are gone!  Thankfully, I have a habit of writing down serial numbers on bows, guns, cameras, in case of theft, fire, etc. Can I clean this lower limb with a little acetone and use a fine point Sharpie to put the specs back on the limb?  Do they even make a gold colored fine point Sharpie?  Anything else I can use?  Thanks.

I've tried sharpie pens and paint markers and I found that they can be wiped out if you use anything with thinner in it on the writing.
If there is a pen or fine point marker out there I haven't found it yet. I'd love to know what the pros use.

India ink with a metal nibbed pen.  Be sure to mix the ink well before use to saturate the pigments in the solution.  :)

Where can I buy India ink and the pen?  Craft store, Wal-Mart, Office Max?

The acrylic ink works really well, it seems to be distinct with only one coat.  It seemed that the india ink always became less distinct after it dried.  I picked up the acrylic ink at Michael's

What Jess said. I got it at Michaels to and it works great. You need a Speedball fine point art pen too.

If you can find the Sharpies that DON'T say, "Non-Toxic" they work fine for me.

you can buy India ink from any tattoo website. or maybe even some tattoo parlors. but not sure bout that. possibly from some crafts stores.

Try a Pentel Slicci gel pen from Hobby Lobby. They come in silver or gold. I used it on a restoration bow after buying several types of pens these worked the best. Better than paint pens as they wipe off easy if you make a mistake with just a wet paper towel. the paint pens can be a chore to remove cleanly or write well with. Also tried the small india ink route but found the small tip cutting into the finish and jumping around a bit after trying to write well with it. Here is a link, cheap too.
