Figured I'd share some pics of this build since I was finally able to bring a Juniper piece through the Shadow of the Valley of Death  > :D

It's 66" OAL, 64" ntn, #38 @ 26" for my wife Ingrid but I tillered it out to #43 @ 28" in case me or someone else with ape arms wanted to send a few arrows up wind.

Enjoy~

Thankfully it only took about 1/2 of set after being strung for an hour and 1/2 hour of shooting.

And finally here is the $$$ Shot  8)

Thanks a tons guys for all the kind comments.  I love this wood but it has been a bugger to get one to live long enough to shoot.

Osagetree...I have been very selfless so far with all my bow building. 1st bow was for he PA Trade Bow gig, bows #2 & #3 were for my 2 boys and bow #4 was for my brother.  My wife got this one and now I'm free to make me as many bows as I see fit since all my people are already covered    :biglaugh:

Nice bow, Lee. I love the juniper bow Keenan made me for the swap. Doubt that I could succeed with that wood, way too many knots and interesting points.
I hear you about having time to make your self a bow. In the same boat.

Thanks Stan, I think I might be making up for it in spades though...I now have a few in the works for me - 1 osage 80% done, 1 Hickory 70% done, 1 B. Locust about 50% done.  Just need to get at least one completed by 1st week or so of Sept so I can dial it in before our Oct 1st Deer opener

Thank you Longbowwoman.  I think the beauty of the Juniper out weights the hassles of dealing with it's issues.

Dang hard to look at bows when the shooters have so much better form than me - not to mention so much prettier. On second look I see the tiller is nice and wood is good looking too. Nice work!

Lee Slikkers

LOL, thanks Shaun...she'll appreciate both those compliments but especially the form one since she kept saying how ackward it felt for her.

Stiks-n-Strings

That looks sweet! Great looking stick Lee.

I do think that looks an awful lot like ERC I don't think I have seen juniper with color of heart wood. I don't know for sure. Either way it looks great!

Yeah Stiks, I have always used the name Juniper interchangeably with ERC.

I thought it was. When someone says juniper In automatically think about the Juniper from out west. I do believe ERC in a species of Juniper though. Not real sure.

Either way to make a bow like that from ERC is quite a feat. Everything I have read about it says it's tough to build a bow from. I cut two real nice logs about 6" of ERC and really look forward to making one now.

Stiks, it is fun stuff to work (smells great too)...rasps very easy once  dried & cured.  I have a couple prime, at least they appear to be, ERC trees picked out to harvest...either later this fall or the following year.

Thanks Joe!
