Anybody have a dip tube set up for sealing bows? Half at a time obviously. It sure seems like it would fill every little crack, crevice and grain line on the bow. Im thinking two dips would be adequate.

You sound like a volunteer to me  ;) . Don't forget to post pics of everything!

Gary Davis Has dipped em for years. That is for his sealer before he steams and straightens, but I think he has done it for final finish also.

It seems to me the runs would all go to one end like arrow shafts do. I would do half at a time.

Gary uses Tru-Oil and does it one limb at a time.  His bows are amazing.

I have done it with spar , works great except for that little drip on the end of the limb tip. I hang it and keep wiping it off, but seems like there is always a tiny drip. Dip 1/2 at a time.

Yes, Gary Davis dips his bows!

He uses Formby's tung oil! 1 limb at a time. If I remember, he dips each limb past the handle, 7 dips each!

I have 3 of his bows, and the finish is like glass!

Roy from Pa

7 dips of tongue oil would make any bow shine.. I wipe on 4 coats of it and my bows shine like glass. Nice thing about tongue oil is, there are no runs or dust period.... Cause ya wipe it back off in 6 - 7  minutes. Wait 24 hours and apply another coat.

I like it! I dip all my wood arrows...like you said Pearl, why not bows?! I am working on a Mr. Davis osage r/d bow right now. When it is done I'm going to do the dippity-dippity do!

PD I dip all my duck and goose calls in deft to seal inside and out, just hang them straight and never have a run. Gotta work on a bow. Thanks now I have one more tool to build (bow dip tube) LOL
