I just started grinding my own lams after purchasing a JET 16-32 drum sander. I have learned quickly that dust collection is not an option with these things... Holy Cow... lots of dust!!

There is a Delta model 50-850 dust collector available on Craigslist in my area. I have never owned a dust collector before. Any opinions on this particular unit or ideas for efficient set-up in my shop?  Thanks for your help...

I saw a simple tutorial for  making a cyclonic filter for shop vacs...collects dust like its nothing.

Gotta find it again...I was back when I was building sub boxes.

The delta 50-850 is a 1200 cfm collector and should be perfect for a drum sander. I have the jet 650 cfm and I really wish I'd bought a bigger one.
I didnt miss, thats right where I was aiming

If anyone is interested, I have a nice cyclone for sale. Better designed for multiple machines. I also have a mobile grizzly dust collector that is like new.
I have no problem aranging shipping for these items. Both in excellen working order.
I just purchased a big Oneida cyclone capable of handling several machines at one time and won't need either of these.
thanks, bigjim

I bought the 5hp dust gorilla. Sent them a drawing of my shop and my needs for dust collection and they advised me and are drawing up a ducting plan.
going to have to sell a few bows to cover this one.

I have two little oneida cyclones. They are great. I took two because shipping cost nearly the same as one cyclone.

I went ahead and bought the Delta unit... the only thing missing is the intake flange piece... I'll need to start searching online to find a supplier for parts.

Congrats, You will like the delta, Two things I did with my first collector was get a felt bag for the top and used the clear plastic bags for the bottom. That kept my little untility room dust free and easy to see when the bag was full.
Good luck with your new toy,it will make things nice and CLEAN.
