I should be starting a osage bow soon but before I do I would like atleast one good reference book. So my question is what is the book for a first time builder?

Thanks everyone in advance.

Traditional Bowyers Bible one and two, you need both. Paul Comstocks "Bent Stick" is a winner as well.

John Scifres

"Hunting the Osage Bow" - Dean Torges.  I'm not sure I'd call it a reference book but it could be used as such.

How could I forget Deans book????? If I had to pick ONE book for a first timer, it would be Paul Comstocks. Its cut and dry, very simple to read and full of what you need to know to make wood bend.

Look up Stim Wilcox's, the Art of Making Selfbows.  Execellent book.
Genesis 27:3 Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me [some] venison

I met this guy this weekend at the balt trad classic. I am here to tell ya this guy nailed many of the remaining questions I have.  Excellent guy, and the book really is one of the best.

I have all the selfbow books. But this is a more down to earth approach.  Where the TBB's get very detailed, very historical, or just nit pics, like the mass theory.  Wilcox's book kinda cuts to the chase.
