I am wondering if you could help me. My project calls for adhering bone to wood.

What glue/cement/adhesive in your experience works best?

Thank you experts!

I am by no means an expert, but smooth-on is hard to beat for just about any glue up project.Just my opinion.

I use super glue to glue antler tips. Don

Don, super glue seems to be easier to obtain. I may do a test with it.

Super glue gel works really well. I keep some actone and Q-tips handy to clean things up........like fingers! Art

Specificaly Gorilla Super Glue High Impact. It has rubber added for shock resistance. I have used it several years on a lot of bows and never lost an overlay or a tip I glued with it.

For osage I used epoxy called plastic Weld.  Drys the same color as osage.  But I also use Titebond3 for bone to wood.  Never lost a tip with either.

rover brewer

just make sure the super glue says gap filling on the bottle.

I've used super glue, carpenters glue(TB, II, III and Elmers), urac, 2ton epoxy and hide glue, all with good results.

If I remember correctly, some guys were talking about using bone or deer antler awhile back and said that since it's porous that it taks alot of soaking up the glue before you could get enough on there to do the job?

Personally I've never used either one, but I think antler overlays on the back portion of the bow handle look really cool, I may try that someday.

a good soaking of super glue in the porous portions of antler and bone will remedy the glue up problems related to the porousportions.

Yep on porous, the only overlays I've had come off were antler, and the parts showed dry glue joint after the fact.

If doing again,I will soak the antler after fitting to the bow , with CA.
Stay sharp, Kenny.
