how do you glue your down and what could you use as one?
Rudz

I use 040 black fiberglass and 3M high strength 90 spray adhesive..Binghams recommends 3M 77 but I think the 90 is better.

milehi101

I use a strip of formica and formica glue I have 1 form that is 12 years old and it is still in good shape so the glue is not a problem

Lgraham

Same as milehi: contact cement. Foam brush it on both the form and the formica. After it dries stick it on there. Start at one end when pressing it down.

I use a pc of black glass and smoothon, just press it with air hose like a bow. May need a 1/4" thick pc on limbs and a fake riser tho.

Nick, did you get your bow materials?

I got a phone call yesterday to go a pick it up. Thanks for all the work you put into it. I sent you check a couple days ago but I think it might take a while to get there because it takes about 7-10 days to get through customs.

what do you mean by

May need a 1/4" thick pc on limbs and a fake riser tho.

the "fake" riser and 1/4 inch thick piece will be needed because of the gap between the top and bottom form pieces, the air hose may not completly fill the gap between the two since it is round..here's a pic of a form I was working on you can see the gap between the top and bottom pieces. And a pic of same form with riser and lams in it for a dry run..

NRudder

I didn't get it because I'm making a take down recurve opps

Here is my press, how would i put a formica strip on it? would i just put glue on the bottom and inflate my hose.

The check will be fine, don't worry about paypal!

Just glue the strip to the form ,and air the hose, but make sure the hose presses the strip to the form. That is what the 1/4" strip is for.

Someone said they glue their strip on the form with the 1st limb glueup, but I don't think I'm that talented!!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

should i put some screws in the press or will it be okay, and if i should put some in do i need to pree drill?
Rudz

Robertfishes

If it were me i would put 1 1/4" or 1 1/2"drywall screws in it on both sides. I used "tite bond II" glue on my forms and I heard it can let go at 150 degrees..So I added a few screws..I didn't pre drill since I glued and screwed before I cut out form with bandsaw and router. I drew my shape on both sides before glue up so i knew where not to add screws. I wouldn't get too close to finished edge with the screws..
