Has anyone decorated the back of their bows with indian pictographs or drawings?. I am considering that for my new (first) selfbow.I would prefer hunting pictures and maybe one line drawings.Any pictures would be appreciated to give me some ideas. I want to keep it simple. Thanks

There is a cool one on the label on a spool of B50 string. Check online if you find some good ones let us know. Maybe try "cave drawings".

WV,
Here's one on a black walnut bow I made.
Its from a rock carving in New Mexico. My pen and ink seem kind of crude or non-artistic, but these indians had carved this in rock, so it was kind of rough. My drawing is a pretty much exact duplication (as best I could).

Ooo, that's pretty cool Jon! I like the turgoise dots on the sides too. You should show us the whole bow.

Thanks Bowana Glass

I really don't have any more pics of this bow yet- I just ran out real quick and took the petroglyph pic for WV boater. Thanks for the compliment. Its a nice bow I made with a master bowyer, Ed Scott in New Mexico last fall.

That is a VERY nice buck in your avatar!

If you can find the book "Messages on Stone" by William Michael Stokes and William Lee Stokes, it has about every native rock art scene.  I used a portion of the "Great Hunting Scene" (Longbow archer and Bighorn Sheep)from Nine Mile Canyon in Utah for the entrance marker to my house.   Jim
