self bow question

hi just formed a self bow from a log and used the inner wood for the handle it made a  nice dark contrast the wood is hickory all hickory self bow specs are 63inches tip to tip 1.2 wide at fade narrowed to .50 at tip .50 thick for length of bow its .60 at fade riser is 9.5 long to fade but after fade is my question i came across some nice dark wood pattern 5.5inches north on the upper limb [i like this limb for the upper limb] do you all think i can leave this alone or must i tiller this area out to make a nice shooter please help LjT

My daughter's bow is a mix of hickory heartwood and sapwood.  If the sapwood on the belly is still there after tillering, it's fine.

Is the dark wood heartwood or discolored wood. If the later, I'd be weary of it.

thanks for the reply the darker wood is heartwood, its  very sharp looks like a star burst very close to the handle upper limb but after further review i may loose it but still need to try thank.
