Is it me or is there a stiff spot on the upper limb on the upper mid limb?  I don't have my glasses on so it could be me.

Ken, very nice looking bow.  I would love to see a close up of the handle area of the bow, can you tell me the measurements at the fades and mid limbs and tips.  Sure looks nice.  Well done.

This looks pretty good. I think your tillering lookes dead on.

I am in the middle of a hard maple backed red oak bow myself. I am trying to hit about 55 lbs at 28". The dimensions right now are 2" for most of the limb (last 15" or so of each limbs tapers to 1/2 nocks)with a nock to nock length of 72". However, I think I may need to bring down the width and the length down a bit to hit my target weight.

Out of curiosity, what dimensions are your red oak bow?

thanks don, oldbowguy ill try and get a handle pic this evening . my handles are really simple layed out 4 inches with 1 inch fades.this one has birdseye maple and walnut lams. when i wrap my leather i start high for the pass then roll the leather for the rest and then wrap back over it and finish wrapping the handle

I'm working on a red oak/hickory backed bow now with about the same dimensions as the one in the post. 66"ttt 8 1/2 riser 2"fades 1 1/2"wide to 3/8 tips. My backing is 3/16" is that to thick?,and the oak board is just a hair under 1/2" Would like to ask if you held on limb thickness say like 1/2"from the riser to the tips or did you taper down to the tips? One more thing did you crown the belly or just round the edges? I like the sleek graceful look you put into your bows you can tell they are smooth and fast. Very nice job.

CR, thank you  ,i usually like a 1/8th backing , because thiner flexs better and some belly woods cant handle 3/16th hickory. as far as belly taper almost every bow i make is straight taper limbs sort of semi-pyramid that lets the belly be almost same thickness. mid to limb tips will actuall be a little thinner but not your normal taper. also bellys are flat just rounded edges
