Great lookin bow. Love that walnut handle. Does it have a backing on it?

StoneAK

I used a paper backing on it 3 layers thick. I went a little overkill with it. I didn't think that it needed it but I didn't want it to break on me. just over cautious.

ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

Purple heart does need time. I built a wide long bow  with it and backed it with hickory . Gave it to a friend and hes still shooting it after 6 years . Taken quite a few Snowshoe hares with it.  John.

Pearl Drums there is your money shot. I appreciate the Vet comment since I am a disabled Vet. I served 10 years in the Army and just got out last summer so thank you for your support. Nice kit too. I am  a guitarist as well

Love the walnut handle. I've only made two bows, but I used walnut in the riser on both of them and I just love the way it looks, especially next to red oak.

StoneAK

I have made about 6 bows now and use them all. This is the first walnut I love the contrast. Love to see some pics of your bows

Purpleheart is very pretty wood and great for tips and risers, just not a very good belly wood.
Heres a hic-backed purpleheart that the belly fretted on.

Heres a purpleheart powerlam in a trilam bow and tips on an osage bow. It is maybe the hardest wood I've ever worked with.
