Nice lookin bow Ken. That beefwood is some good stuff. I lucked onto some of it last year on an old deck I was tearing out. I didnt really know what it was but I knew it was heavy enough to make a bow. Built a couple of em with hickory backs. Where did you find it at?

Ken75

I really like that Beefwood. I have never seen it in person but I love the few I have seen here. Nice work Ken

Ken75

thanks ya'll, Pat trying to use left over and the beefwood is dense enough to be narrow.
Pearl its similar to ipe maybe easier to sand and work however the boards i have stink when you work them

Great job for scrap. None of my scrap looks like that. (Nice).

vanillabear?

hova

thats gorgeous... i want to know what they are crating in beefwood...time to dumpster dive...

and vanilla : white oak is the stuff. my longbow has held up wonderfully , and so far , the white oak is handling both of my short designs <51"tip to tip , other than the one , i shaped the handle before i did anything , and its really thin. i need to add some overlay , but i have been pursuing other species lately...

love the bow , you ever find yourself needing space , ill put em in my storage unit , free of charge.
ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

Ken75

thanks all. Semo every now and then,Scott there are four nail holes in this one, good eye .im glad to be back at it after all that work
hova i have access to a stack of lumber about five foot wide and eight high that is all 1 by 4 by 9 foot lumber that was shipping crates from south america. now the majority of the stuff is mahogany . but about half is ipe and beefwood. i need to go dig through the pile again.

ill keep in mind about the storage idea

hova

you sure its not lauan and all the associated south american trops?

looks good though
ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

Nice.  I miss building those, no fiberglass, no "goo", no curing, just scaper and paper.
