Hi guys I was just reading the TBB3 and noticed they said that the Deflex/recurve or duoflex is prettymuch the best all wood bow and they said the same thing about the perry reflex. I have a few questions about these bows. For one I dont quite understand what either one is. Is the Deflex recurve like reflex deflex and they just call it something different or does the string make contact on the deflex/recurve or duoflex they also mention. and for the perry reflex it looks prettymuch straight to me in the pictures and I am not quite understand what they are doing to reflex it. Maybe I missed something but how exactaly is the perry reflex accomplished? Thanx

From what I understand perry reflex is simply reflex that is glued into a bow when making a laminated bow. If I remember right theres a lot of info on it in TBB4.

Okie's got it right.  Glue 2 pieces of wood together and then bend them into a shape while the glue is still wet or unset and the glue holds it in the shape.

As for that being the best design...

It's more of a technique than a design.  It's great but there is a lot more to being the "best". Remember that the TBB series is written by many different authors.  So one of them has a drastically different opinion of the best design.  As does everyone reading this  :)

Tim Meigs produces the Duoflex design longbows. Check on his bows for ideas. I always thought the term Duoflex simply referred to a relex - deflex design.Deflex at the fades and reflex throughout the limb.
