gray glass

I have some gray glass and I'm trying to come up with a sharp color for the riser, lams, and tips. I 'm thinking maybe a charcoal dymond wood riser with maple limbs, but who knows. This is for a longbow styled after the Great Northern Critter Gitter Special. Anyone got any ideas?

Reds and yellows would look good with it.

You should combine almost any color with the grey-red, black and white and your charcoal riser sounds like a good match.

Rob, Charcoal Dymondwood would look great esp with the gray glass and maple limbs.

Heres a suggestion if you've got a short piece of red glass glue it in the middle of the riser. Put the gray glass on the belly,if you've got black glass put that on the back.

Thats how I'd like mine to look and 50 @ 27!!!

I built a flatbow once with gray glass used a bubinga riser, made a nice looking bow. I think either red or one of the dark colors would be excellent.

I think I would love to get some grey glass. Got any extra you want to sell or trade?
any red toned wood would be a good contrast. Something like bubinga with an osage stripe would look really great. Cocabola would work with purpleheart or sage. the burgandy diamondwood ect. God Bless you, Steve

Sorry Steve and James, I only have four pcs of the grey glass. I think I'll do one with the charcoal dymondwood and the other with something in the red group. The burgundy dymondwood might work or even a tulipwood riser with bamboo lams for a creamy look. I'm back to being interested in building bows again, I did a few about 8-9 years ago and got away from it due to putting a new place together and starting a new job. Time to stop working all the time and play a little.

I'm very surprised that gray glass isn't more popular. I set my bow down to pull arrows at a shoot one time and it took 3 of us to find it. It was sitting right in the open, leaning against a Oak. Gray just kinda disapears in the Eastern hardwoods. Go with a dark color, mine was Cocobolo and I loved it.

I love Grey Glass, I have 3pcs. of 060 that i have been waiting to use for about 3-4 years. I can't make up my mind on what kind of wood I want to use.lol I would like to get a pile of it though,I really like the looks of the grey bows. show us some pics when you get the bow done.

Gordons show grey glass on there site, but there suppiers dont carry it. I wonder how much you would have to buy to buy direct?

I got a bunch of glass from a friend that built and sold bows about 10-14 yrs ago so this is at least that old. I used brown glass to build one in September. It came out pretty good but too light for now. I'll save it for older age. I'm gonna order materials tonight. Can't wait to get going on it. Thanks for replying everyone.

you cannot buy direct from Gordon's unless you are a serious distributor with deep pockets.

Well I got the materials ordered and just waiting for them. I'll keep it under wraps until I'm done then I figure out how to post pics. Like I said before, I can't wait to get started. Rob.
