Well I done about all I can do on my swap bow and looks like I am gonna have to ship late    :(

I pulled a stave out of my stash that I cut about two years ago and it turns out osage don't dry as quick in the garage as in the house.

Who would of thunk it....

Anyway I got it tillered to 46# at 28" and I kept thinking that it acted kinda funny when I would unbrace it after tillering it would take severe set and you could watch it creep back to almost straight in a matter of a minute.

After talking with Pat B i decided to heat temper the belly to help reduce set and hopefully help speed the drying time. I have it in a hot box at around 100 degrees so we will see if it is dry enough in a week. I really don't think it has that much moisture in it but it's enough that it needs to set in the box a bit.

All that is left is tweak the tiller once it's ready and shoot her in and she will be off to her new home.

Whew!  Not just me...LOL

I went to do glue up and looked down my form and saw it was warped.  I guess it did not like our winter either.

So down to home depot and got some materials.  Just finished up the new form.  Hoping to glue up tomorrow.

tenbrook - that is probably the cleanest selfbow I've ever seen. Awesome!! I'd be proud to own that one.

Bradford I saw you kick out about a bow a day per kid over Christmas.  I wouldn't be too worried if you're building for me       Nice form! I'm curious what it is made out of?

Just got back from our annual Independence day 3D shoot in Kenai, AK.  I was carrying my new trade bow from rogers and managed to miss 3rd place by a measly 4 points!    :banghead:   The first day it rained almost all day and I managed to have about 6 feathers fall off various arrows so I ran off to Sportsmans Warehouse and picked up a 1/2 doz pre-fletched carbons and finished day two considerably better (not raining!).

The bow will most definitely shoot better than I can and it was admired by all.    :clapper:

Thanks again Caleb!     :archer2:

Goose.. Thanks man!  Yeah, I was a man on a mission during Christmas!  And we had a warm fall so the hands where still working. LOL.

I bought some melamine shelving.  I glued 2) 3/4" pieces together and screwed with long screws.. so it would get a good bite.  Then grind-ed off the excess length of screw.  This time, I used smooth on epoxy to seal up the open edges.. let it dry up and final sanded it.  Then used some glazing putty (for auto body work) to fill in any small imperfections.

I think this one will hold true.  We shall see.

It is ready, packed, is shipping it tomorrow.  The bow is two slats of Ipe, Ipe power lam, and backed with bamboo, 64"nock to nock, and has Zebrawood/bamboo/phenolic overlays and handle.  Here are a few pictures:

Handle

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Fantastic looking bow, Walt.  I like the tractor seat on your shave horse, too.  Also, congrats on being posted on the banner at the top!  I'd like to see a full-size version of you bear hugging that cat  :)
