I know that I personally am in the same boat as Stiks it sounds like. I have been trying to work out a new style using cherry on top of that rather then my usual oak. As a result I have four bows all in different stages in my work area. However I know that if I am unable to pull through with this new method for me, I should easily be able to fall back on what I know I can do and have my trad bow ready to ship in three days flat. I just am hoping to be able to do something "special" this time around. It's been a while since I tried to stretch my wings bow making anyways and this gave me the perfect reason to.

That's cool, Butcher! Hey! Send that thing down here to South Arkansas and I'll test run it for you recipient! The curve in the handle/fades area is perfect for a lefty.

Formerbutcher, Nice work on that one for sure. To stay that straight just after unstringing shows just how good your tillering is, especially pulling that much weight and draw length.......Dan

Kris & Kelly, thanks for all the work you guys do to pull this together and keep track of everything.....Dan

Some very nice bows for sure being built. I sent mine out today.  I posted a few pictures early in the process, sorry for not doing more of a build along but these days I'm lucky to find the time to build let alone post much. I hope it performs well for the new owner.

I have 2 bows shipped and one should be there any minute if not there already. And the bowyer is just shooting to much to post right now.

John Scifres

I got my trade bow about 60% done.  It'll ship on time.

Wow, came back to find more catching up to read through than I have in a long time.

I have to admit that while I'm not concerned about what I receive (or even if), it does make me feel better to see my recipient pop in once in awhile.  Kind of helps me feel a little more sure they'll really appreciate my efforts.

Cheers!

@ fujimo : brother that is exactly what i was talkin about . i am definitely looking  at something more like that , but i was just going to draw and measure. templates are nothing but trouble for me.

@ stiks : saw the mod tag before the posts and thought the same as everyone else ; "good on ya mate" . i think kelly really likes to hear thank you. as if he doesnt do enough for all of us in his daily job , he figured he'd just lend a hand for fun...

i have seen my recip post on the thread recently , and it is reassuring. Just going to give it all the mojo i can.

on a more technical side , with a selfbow , when doing a bend through the handle , do you guys just leave a bit of heft in the handle area till youre shaped more into limbs????
ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

Hova, The handle should be the biggest part of the bow , both in width and thickness. On a bendy handle bow I try to get the handle to give at full draw so I tiller the limbs and bring the bend back to the handle during the final tillering.
 Cool "stick" bow John.

I'm working on a mollie also, largely due to Ken75's bows he has posted. I haven't talked much about it cause I wasn't sure it was what I wanted to give as my trade bow. But it's looking like it might be the one.

I will try to post some pics of it later today.

I haven't seen anything of my recipient since early on either.

My recipient posts regularly  :)   I have no fear that he/she/it is still around - hehehe.

Got word that another one has been shipped. So unless I missed something 3 bows should be hitting doorsteps soon. Now let me double check and see if I missed a post.
