That is very impressive numbers from a longbow Kenny. I've noticed that when I'm shooting through my chrono my release has a major effect on velocity. A smooth clean release at full draw and my anchor point will consistently get 5-7 fps more velocity than a crappy release and missing my anchor. The chrono is just a tool like any other, and I already had it for testing my reloads for pistol and rifle so why not make good use of it as a training aid for proper form and release?
Thanks for posting your results.

Now there's an interesting idea -- working on releases with a chrono.

Guys, I just got my bow, and I am completely flabergasted.  I have never held a trad bow this nice...ever.  I dont know how to say thanks enough.  My kids and I were out shooting our bows tonight.  This is the smoothest, best weapon I can imagine.

I am a relatively new bowyer, and now I am completely worried about my skill level compared to this.  I've put the bow on the shelf for a few weeks while we wrap up baseball season (I coach my sons team).  half of me can't wait to finish, the other half is embarrassed.

Thank you thank you thank you for this bow.  No words to describe this.

Very slick looking package, Brad!  Having been the lucky recipient of your bow last year I can vouch that whoever gets that dropped on their doorstep might want to keep a spare pair of britches handy     :bigsmyl:
Changing my britches right now.  This bow is inspiring.

Told ya, Monkey Wrench!  You done hit the jackpot with a bow from Brad  :)  Congratulations!  Your genuine thankfulness is evident.  Now, don't worry another minute about your bow.  This isn't a contest but a good-natured, honest swap.  Heck, post some pictures of it and we'll make you feel better...right after you get done shooting that bow from Brad  :)

seriously. my first bow looked like a hardly shaped piece of dimensional lumber. it bent nice though. still does. i have cranked it back to 37" and i dont see one stress crack or chrysal yet.

would i submit it to the swap? no. i would definately get it gold plated before sending it out.

Monkey Wrench, great to hear you received the bow and that you like it...excellent!

I would not be worried at all and like 4est said, this swap is all good natured and about giving rather than receiving.  I think the best part about this forum in general is just getting some ideas and building/construction methods from others so we can all take it to the next level. And the bow swap takes this one step further than just pictures posted.

I received  beautiful bow from Trux last year and it allowed me to study his construction method, seeing things that I had never thought of or attempted previously.

Have fun with it!

I have 12 bow received and 2 I need to see if I missed a post on they should have be received by now Monkey I have updated yours data.

Please if you receive your bow shot me a PM. I try to tracke the ship and receive dates.

Well said Brad, I've stepped outside my comfort zone since the Bow Swap started just from seeing other methods, pics of bows, and reading the build alongs. I've come a long way from where I started thanks to all the great bowyers here in this forum.

Monkey Wrench........You are one lucky guy!

I glued up my swap bow last night. Here are a couple of teaser pics. I'll post more when I get it finished. The limbs have Golden Rain veneers, back and belly with maple cores. The riser is homemade action wood laminated Black Locust, Bocote, Yellow Heart, Maple, Purple Heart, Maple, Yellow Heart, Bocote in the accent stripe.

Look Greg, all the mud washed out of my jacket from last week. I used it for a background for these photos so you would believe me.

That's looking nice. No matter how hard you try to keep the kids clean they always find a mud puddle to play in. Of course the entire 3-D range was a mud puddle.
I didnt miss, thats right where I was aiming

I made a little progress this weekend. It's a wavy, snaky critter so the hinge looking area on the left side is just how the tree grew.

The string fell way outside the handle until I corrected it. Here's the before.

I plan to skin it with a bullsnake that shouldn't have been crossing the road. How about a tiller check from one of you guys that do the fancy photoshop circles and lines magic?

Thanks for lookin.

Brad nailed it on the spirit of the swap. When I first came up with this idea it was based on the fact I'm a collector, not of bows or knives or anything like that but a collector of sentiments.

I thought it would be awsome to have a bow of any sort from another TG bowyer and a great opportunity for some of us to share our work with the ones who would most appreciate what we put into it, Our heart and alot of blood, sweat, and tears. I learned most all I know here and learn everyday.

On a different note I did some wood swapping with Keenan at the TN Classic this weekend and now I really am having a hard time deciding which way to go on my swap bow But I think I am going the route I planned and will get started tommarrow and get her on the tree. I'll have pics I promise.

After many failed attempts to get my tradebow going I've finally made some progress  :)
I started with some bamboo flooring

And a piece of african walnut

I then turned the boo into tapered lams using my own jig

Till they bend nicely

Once I had all the pieces ready I prepared my form for action

etc etc etc  :)

A first look...some tillering still needed, but already she casts a fast arrow
