Nice looking stick Roy.

Joe I was wondering where you was bud. I figured you had some stuff going on. Did you cut yourself or have to have surgery.

Roy,

That is one fine looking bow. You guys that can build these all wood bows are magicians. The tiller on that bow looks amazing. That one is going to put a big smile on someone's face.
It is better to be approximately right than exactly wrong.

Joe sorry to see that.I had a similar problem last year.had to get the ligements reattached in LT thumb.Hope you get healed up soon.Roy beautiful job!

Roy from Pa

Thanks, I added a video of it above also.

hova

looks great roy. as always.

o.t. :  i was thinking carpal tunnel too , hope the sunshine is helping your spirit stay well...

got out today for about 6 hours (off an on but mostly on) . got the osage down about 8 rings total , going to go down another 1 at least to get to my desired back , and see what the deity's will allow...

couple pics of the day.

heres what we sort of started with. a small crack at the smaller end is where i started. turned out it only went about 2" anyways , but the thicker rings were a little deep. almost 3/4" down.

this is after a little work. you can see the deep gash in the right corner closest to the lens , this is where the crack was. i started here , and its still a little rough ,but the ring i want is close , and the rest of it is another 1-2 rings above my safety ring.

a little farther along iirc..

and almost done for the day...

figured out a way to work it for now. not sure what i am going to do. might have to just wait a little bit and get a vice...or make a horse...not sure which yet , as i dont have a solid bench so far...yet...

Joe, looks like you're healing nicely and taking good care of yourself. Glad to hear you're doing well.

Roy, that's a fine looking bow, someone's gonna be mighty happy when they find that at their door.....Dan

Man, Joe, hate to see that! Hope you're doing okay. Take care.
Roy, that is one beautiful bow. Enjoyed the video also. How do you get the backing shaped? I've not seen anyone do that. (Maybe I haven't been paying attention...)

Saturday I re-glued the hickory on to the osage. Used more clamps and glue than I did during the first glue up. This afternoon I glued on an osage handle riser. Tomorrow I'll try to glue on tip overlays.
What should I use to glue phenolic on the tips? I have Titebond, epoxy, super glue, and smooth on.  Which do you guys suggest?
:help:

im  betting everyone will say smooth on. i wouldnt be afraid to try some good CA , but if i had smooth on , id go with that.

Wow Roy that's a good looking bow. Hova..Nice piece of wood you got and I bet it's hard to work without a vice. Joe I think I might have something like that going on with my left elbow it bothers me more at night tho when I'm trying to sleep. Anyways I got a bit more done to mine today.

red hill

Thanks, hova. By the way, a shaving horse isn't hard to build. I built mine for about $34.
Nice job, West Tex.

Thanks for the comments. I should have mentioned it was wrist fusion due to keinbocks disease.

Lots of nice work being done here by all for the swap. Kudo's to all!

red : i plan on making either a shaving horse or some kind of inexpensive bench.

its not that bad without a vice. you just have to figure out a way to immobilizr the wood.

the jeep worked great for this , but was really irritating to adjust my wood...
ain't got no gas in it...mmmhmmm...

Great looking bows you ll are building.
Back on the home front from the Tenn. Classic. Had a great time and got to meet some great people. Came home with a truck load of that yellow wood to try as well as some hickory, ironwood, and a few others that I don't recognize. Thanks to all of you who traded and gifted me with the goods.
Kris sure was nice to meet up with you and your wife. Thanks again for the help with everything.
Got to show Kris the bow trade progress. I took it along, thinking I might get a chance to work on it, but you know how that goes. Just a few more pounds to drop and then to get her dressed up and shipped out.  :bigsmyl:

Ok, here goes...

I'd like "C", "S", "R", "T", and "L" Pat.

Ok, how about a vowel?

Ummmmm let's go with "E" partner.

Ok, let's look at the board.
