I have some maple laminations that I planed down awhile back. They are quarter sawn with straight grain running the entire length. They are 2" wide by 68" long and 3/16 thick. I have used some of them for cores on hickory backed bows but was wandering if they would work for backing? I have some cherry that I was thinking of tryin out. Has anyone ever tried this combination? Iwould probably make it a bendy handled bow to ease stress on the cherry.

I have not used maple for backings but I know folks that have with success. Cherry and other "weaker" bow woods are good candidates for maple backings.

I got it at the local lumberyard and the guy said it was hard maple. after workin on some of it I figure it has to be hard maple. It dulled my table saw blade pretty quick. I guess i'll try it out and see what happens.
