Dry Time TB3 & sinew?

Re-attached sinew and hide glue backing 2 weeks ago w/TB3 and did the sides a week ago with sinew and TB3, how long would the dry time be to start the tillering? It has been inside in the AC.

Wow, I think all TB is good within 24 hours. You are too patient. I had my tips glued on with TBIII and it was on the tiller less than 2 days later and only that long because of how long it took me to get it ready for it.

I give it a week and have had no problem.

Jason/Woody, Gluing tips on with TTB111 and gluing sinew are two different tasks. I've done both and, like you, with tips it is overnight ready to go. But with sinew, which holds moisture, it takes considerably longer to dry out. On 4 layers of sinew I've waited a month to be sure it was completely dry.

SO do you think its dry? This started with the post "sinew application gone bad". I first backed with hide glue and sinew and it didn't hold and peeled off like a snake skin, the hide glue and the sinew all together. Then I re-applied to the bow after cleaning the back again and used TB3. 3 layers of sinew and hide glue attached with TB3, all wrapped with gauze for a week, then did the sides with TB3 and sinew last week.

Well I geuss it was dry enough. Sanded this afternoon and re-tillered. Not as heavey as I want but I weasn't surprised need to work on the profile and depth of limb a little. Ended up 64 NTN and @ 28 40ish lbs. Shot about 2 doz shots this eve. shoots good, has good snap to it,(which should be expected with backing), decent cast. Had a very bad area on the belley which I had noticed prior to tiller. Soaked the area with super glue. The area looks like the wood is bad or a crack from back to belly not sure. But iot didn't explode on me this evening.

sounds like it may have been a drying check. the superglue patch should help it, if it gets worse or keeps opening id probably wrap the area with sinew, or even string material to help support it.

good idea. i wouldnt overdo it though, sinew adds a good deal of weight compared to wood. ive even used wool yarn with success, saturated it with superglue and sanded it looks kinda cool since it was camo i use for my string puffs.lol
