I bought a 2"X2"X72" piece of what a guy said was osage. He said he had it for several years. I ripped it yesterday and it is a dark brown all the way thru. I know osage darkens with age but does it get a dark brown. Thanks, Don

All I have ever seen has got dark on the outside but the inside is still yellowish orange.

This has no yellow to it at all. I'm wondering if I got took. I'm going to try a bow with it. I will lay out a 66" bow tomorrow and see how it goes. Don

yea osage is always recognizable by the yellow wood i think they didnt know what it was when they gave it to you. if you look at the latest post by osagetree youll see just how yellow it is.

I have some osage that is pretty dark all the way through but it is rare stuff. It is also very oily and brittle, not my favorite kind of osage by a long shot.

I got a piece of Osage from a 100 year old fence from a guy at work and it was the same signature color you would expect.  Methinks it may not be Osage
Striving to be imperfect.  So far so good.

I'd guess something else too.
