I have a 65.5 slippery elm bow that i am working on and was wondering if anyone has any experience with cherry for a backing? It came out on the light side and i was thinking of gluein in some reflex to get some poundage back.I have a beautiful piece of 80yr old cherry i would like to incorporate into this bow.Any pointers?

im not so sure cherry would be a good backing, ash, hickory, maple, or bamboo will work though. also sinew would increase the draw weight but works best with a shorter bow.

Do you have more elm you could back it with?
I believe elm backed cherry would be a good match but not cherry backed elm.
