Just finishing up an osage self bow and the string follow is around 1.75" after relaxed.  Is that a little excessive or pretty close to normal?
It is a 62" pulling around 50#@26" and seems to be a good shooter, though I haven't finished the handle area completely.
Is there anything that can be don't to help avoid it?  It understand that heat tempering the belly helps.  I am assuming that once the string follow has set in, there is nothing you can do to remove any of it.

That's about right for follow for the first few bows.  After awhile you might get it to about 1" but that's the best I have ever done.  I generally assume 2" so I start with that much reflex bent in.

As far as fixing it, here is a fixalong I did a while back.  Fixit
