hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone has used mahogany or what you thought obout using it for a boo backed bow?

i tried it a couuple times. No luck on all wood bows. One  good and one broken on Glass backed bows. That's as limb material.I guess you could use it as a riser material but it seems awful brittle to me.i do use it as accent stripes lammed into a riser.

Never tried it as a core wood, but have used it in handles. I think it would fret like cherry if your tiller wasn't perfect. Let us know if you try it.

Most species of mahogany generally have a specific gravity of about .47 to .63 (although Mountain Mahogany can approach .90).  Although it is harder than it's SG would suggest, it is still not generally suited for the application you're suggesting.  The pores of most species are very open, and it would easily crush under the extreme tension load imparted by bamboo.  Guess you would have to know which variety it is.  Others may chime in with another opinion...just my $0.02 worth.      :)
