Look at this pic.  See how long the non-bending portion of your handle area is?  All your bend is in the center of the limb.  The right limb is bending more than the left.

I highlighted the string angle for you.  See how it is greater than 90 degrees?  When it approaches 90 degrees, you lose all your leverage and begin pulling against the length of the bow.  You are putting most of the draw weight into trying to pull the limbs apart rather than adding anything to the spring that is your simple machine to power the arrow.

Get the near handle wood bending a lot more.  Use whatever you have left in weight to get that bending better.

John,
Your ability to clearly point out the areas that need work on a bow, and then the solution to fix it, is outstanding. It is one of the most helpful things that anyone does to help us less experienced bowyers.

Wow, I sure do like that one a lot, especially the full draw profile.

Ok, my bow is down to 54# @ 28". I've scraped the near handle area a bunch and I don't see much if any improvement. I don't know how to put the lines on the picture like John does but I used post-it notes to try and see the string angle.

I posted another picture on page 31 in my second post on that page, along with the first two if you want to input anything. Actually I think I will just post them here.

Looks like sshe's quite a bit better Bona.

maybe a few more scrapes close to the fades for about 5 or 6 inches. maybe five at a time and pull it 20 or thirty times between scapes. Looks like it might take one or two times.  JMO

It is looking better to me Bona.  I agree with Stiks.  If you have a couple more pounds to give, she'll come around even more.  Either way, I think it'll please the recipient.

The poundage requested was 55-60 so I hate to go any lower. If you think it will be alright as is, I think I will finish her up. I wanted to give an excellent bow. But I think I will have to go with my best effort so far. Thanks everyone for your help. I will get final pics out before I send her.

I think everyone will be happy with what they get, as we all can appreciate the effort that has goe into making each and every bow in this swap. We give our best and get anothers best, can't ask or expect more than that. I am proud to be a part of this.

i got mine finished up this week and just put the first 2 coats of finish on. It came out under draw weight though suprisingly . I have two other bows the same dimensions only thinner and they pull more than this one    I hope the new owner likes it
