Well guys I have joined the "Built and Broke" clan. After great success on my first two bows, I got a little dumb on the band saw on my third and, no matter my efforts, couldn't rid myself of a hinge on the lower. Had her tillered pretty great with the long string, moved to short, tillered great again, even drew the 28" I wanted, but yesterday when showing my fiance the tiller, I heard a "CRACK!" and suddenly like 20#'s less draw. Limb cracked right at the hinge. Now I have an awesome firepoker cause I cut that limb off and i'll be damned to just toss wood!

Hope not to be back on the list for a while.

BTW tawmio your bows are bad ass!! Hope those didn't break.

Yes, but i'm a little embarassed to show it after yours! Those bows are what I hope to one day be making. But these are my 3 bows:

This was the first (25# @28 for my girl):

This was my second for my brother. i wanna say it pulled 48@28.

And this was my most recent attempt. It was primarily a grip idea I've been throwing around. It splinterd at a hinge on the lower limb due to some nefarious cutting on the band saw. 5 seconds of impatience cost me a decent bow. But taught me a valuable lesson on blades and time.

This was pulling 28#@28 before the crack. Perfect for my little boy.

Whenever you wanna host a build along Tommy, i'll be first in line to make one of your bows.
