here is a pic of the beginning of the tips. I used a small shed I found then cut it with a coping saw. First in half lenghtwise, then cut for length. I set them in the vise and sandedqfiled them as flat as I could then  used 2part epoxy to attach them.

here is l82hunt at full draw. Right now it is 60@28. I have to sand and finish still, but ilm still hoping that after a little shooting it will settle in at 55@27. Shoots sweet so far.

I pulled it to far because I'm dumb.  I put it back on the tree  because after stringing it we heard a small crack. This bow was finished. Done. Shooting very well,  and then I drew it past the point of no return. Oh well... On the his next bow. I will post more pics of this next build. This one was 62ntn, 55@27. Never found out what it pulled @28.

Sorry it broke Dave.If its any consolation I thought it lookes really nice.I especially liked the shape of the handle.

DVSHUNTER

I had glenn  come over and help me shape it to his liking. At least he got to shoot it. I used a high gloss finish for the first time and really liked it.

I see there is an awful lot of bend in the middle section of that upper limb...need to get more bend towards the handle and out towards the tips on your next one.  When it is all concentrated in one area like that she is GOING to blow sooner or later.

yup. that's part of building bows.  I still like the shape of the handle.  Show us your next one DVS.

the full draw pic doesn't show the true tiller of this bow. It was pretty durn sweet. I think that it was more due to the know in the limb that it broke on. I could be wrong, but it looked good to me in person. It does look stiff in the pic though.

There's fine line between how much to leave around knots. I've been wrong on both sides at least once..lol. I thought there was something about the upper limb but with all of the limbs of the tree in the back ground, it forbids I say more. I just don't see that well any more and throw in some good background blind material. Well I just can't see it good enough to say much.

Overall it was a nice looking bow. If you learned something from the experience, it wasn't a failure.

I think it was a fun build. I have to go get a stave for the next one, but that is how it goes. This was my first attempt at tip overlays and I really liked the way they turned out so I'm still happy. Plus I have never had one blow up. Cracked a few, but never kablewy! It was pretty cool plus no one was hurt.
