Shakes.602,
I checked the Indianapolis craigslist site and there are several different band saws in the tools section.

Thank you Scrub-Buster!! Never used "craigslist" before. Is it kinda like the Classifieds in the Star?

Craigslist is a free online classifieds.  There is a lot of junk on there, but also a lot of deals.  I have bought and sold a lot of stuff on it.

got my craftsman 12" for 50$ on craigslist.  works like a champ, even came with a "fiberglass" blade (super dull that is) wish i had a good fence, and some mounting points, but with a 50$ band saw i dont feel bad atall drilling holes in the deck.
does everyone else look up when someone yells "DUCK!!"?

I have a 14" Grizzly with a 6" riser extension and couldn't be happier.  I use Timberwolf blades and have no complaints.  I bought mine primarily for use in carving waterfowl gunning decoys, but it has worked well for all uses.  The only problem I had was when it arrived new.  The blade tensioning bars were bent.  I called Grizzly customer service and they appologized and overnighted (without me asking) replacements.

Here is the advantage of a 50$ band saw.  i bought a craftsman (same brand as my band saw) universal fit rip fence.  however of course it would not fit because of a 1.5 inch lip on the apron of the saw.  Well i believe "universal fit" means me and Mr. 4" makita have some work to do.  Some times i wish the manufacturer didn't have the same opinion., anyways this would have hurt on a 500$ Delta.  (of course it would have a fence) my only hesitation was because i was not sure i had any cut off wheels and it would have been a pain strait grinding it off.
15mins later, and it fits!

I have 3, not hording, just different sizes. A good 14" Delta for most work, an older 20" Jet bought off the auction site for big stuff, and just got a 9" Delta (craigs list) table top for traveling to events. I was surprised that the little table top worked fine for cutting osage bows blanks out of a stave after ring chasing. I'm sure it would wear out fast if you used it a lot, but if you are a part timer it should be fine. Paid $40 for it in almost new condition.
