It's that time of year again when my archery class will be building longbows.  I've never used Mahogany in the risers of these bows, but I have some left over from a bookcase Mama wanted.  Will it work?  These are straight limbed 68" longbows pulling 35 pounds or so.  Thanks,

Stan

I think most Mahoganys are fairly brittle, but I think it will work for a 35# bow (I would laminate the riser though just to be safe).  Good luck!

I would laminate it too. Mahogany can be brittle.

Brad and Tom,

Thanks for the input.  Was kinda thinking it might not work as is, think I'll stick to Maple, Ash and Walnut.
