Took the girls with me to find some arrows lost in the snow during winter stumping expedition. Of course we took the bows and this was my girls first time out stumping. My little one is using the cupid bow she won from vermonster13. It is the last Pup that Mike did off his old form. My older girl is using the first bow I made. It is a little big for her but she did fine with it.

Hey Razorback,
I am new to archery and have heard of stump shooting... I know the overall what it means, but are using a different style arrow or tip for doing this?
And what.. you just go out into the wood and find stumps to shoot?

Thanks
God gave you hands, use them

I love to see the little ones out with their dads.  I raised two girls and I realy like to see other dads doing the same stuff we did.

I made bows for my girls as they grew.  They realy liked haveing bows that fit them but looked like everyone elses.  Alot of good folks used to come up to them and ask them about their bows.  You could see the pride in their faces.

One daughter became a bowhunter and alowed me to experience the thrill of seeing her take her first deer.  She is now off on her quest to become a dentist but never misses a chance to bowhunt with her old dad.

Thanks for the pictures of these fine kids of yours.

Thanks for the comments LPM. I am in the process of making bows for each of them. Not sure if either will be bow hunters, but if I can make archers out of them I will be very happy. A hunter would be a bonus.
Bradford. Yes, stump shooting is just going out into the woods and shooting anything you can stick an arrow into. Rocks and solid wood aren't recomended but still count. I only have a bunch of missmatched arrows that I don't really care if I loose or bend. I wouldn't use a good set of balanced hunting arrows to shoot stumps but I would use as close to what you want to hunt with as possible. It is the best practice that you can creat for yourself. You can use the wind and stalk up on a stump from down wind. You can lay on your belly and soot under a downed tree to try to hit your target or create any situation you can think of. It is a whole lot of fun to wander the woods and use your imagination to create a target for you to hunt. Just take lots of arrows and expect to break or loose a bunch of them.
