Bingham recurve choices

Just getting started as a bow builder.  I'm considering buying a kit from Bingham Projects, but don't understand why the one piece recurve comes in only two sizes (58" and 60") while the take down model can be up to 66".  Is there a good reason for this?  Can the Bingham plans be modified to make a longer one piece?  Thanks.

i bought a set of plans from Old master crafters for a one piece recurve.  the giant, horse and cat bows all rolled into the same plans.  Not very impressed so far.  I didn't get any kind of limb thickness chart and the drawing themselves have a lot to be desired.  I did cut out the form outline and i have heard it is a pretty fast bow.  I am making the horse bow 60" but the cat bow is 56".  I guess i'll call them and see what thickness i need to get to my draw weight.  To sort of answer your question, a takedown bow is only handle and limbs.  That makes is more versatile. In a one piece handle length plays a role in the draw weight of the limbs.  I imagine that is you shorten the limbs and the riser/ handle the same amount on each side it would probably come out ok.

Thanks to all who replied.  Well, I did what I should have done in the first place: I called the company.  The guy told me that the reason the one piece recurves are shorter is that those are the most popular sizes for that style.  I guess I can blame market forces for this one, though I don't see how it would be much trouble for them to make more lengths available.  Anyhow, he also told me that it would be no problem to modify the plans, just add the additional length in the limbs near the riser.  When ordering supplies, I should inform them of my modifications and they would be able to determine what lamination thickness/taper I would need.

For a one pc. you need a bow form for each length.
