I made this Hupa style bow not long ago.  It is hickory, backed by elk sinew, then painted over the sinew.  The belly is stained to look like juniper or yew. It is 47# at 25".  52" long.  2 3/8" wide at the widest and 1" wide at the tips.  Rabbit fur accents and leather laced over cork for the handle. [IMG]

Great looking bow. I like it.

Thanks, everyone.  I think ash could be used, but I would definitely back it with sinew.
