Evenin Y'all;
New guy here. Just got back into Archery after about 30 years. Got into it pretty big, already making longbows. Latest project is making strings. I have a bow here that is way to heavy (100+) I'll rework it down to drop the weight, no idea what I was thinking there since i am not 49 anymore!
Here is a question..
At what number of threads do you need to make annother bundle? I started making one for the above bow, used 2 threads per 10lbs = 24 strings. I made 2 bundles, this is aparently to many, 12 makes a very fat bundle and it also takes up to much length for the braid. In short the string is a mess and is unuseable.

Danny, I made a yew war bow last year(95#@30") and it was suggested to me to use fast flight string because of the low stretch on these heavy bows. I make all of my strings with B-50 so I asked someone to make me a FF string for my bow. I gave him the weight and length and he did the rest. FF is stronger and smaller diameter so a string for that heavy bow was smaller than a B-50 for my 55# bows.    Pat

Ahh, there is an idea. I was going to use this bow for a pig hunt, but its just to much to be useable. Kind of cool to have one this strong, but its not very practical.

I know your not surpose to fast flites on selfbows but I've been doing it for the last 10 years.I can't see where it hurts any thing.
