OK- how does "software" aid in tillering, if that is what it does, please? Or is it to aid in designing?

Thanks, AP - design is above and beyond my level, I'm thinking - LOL. Sounds like it'd be a good thing for anyone headed that way though.

Supertiller is a fun excel spreadsheet to work with. Takes some time to get an idea on how to use it but is worth it in my opinion. Here are some pictures of the predicted outcome with supertiller and a picture of the limb built with the dimensions entered in supertiller. Also a picture of the tiller of this bow once the width taper was finished. This was one of the laminated all wood bows I built for my grandson. supertiller was built for all wood bows but the designs will work for glass laminated bows.

I am working on getting it posted to my web hosting sight so you guys can download it direct, just take me a littile bit to get the thing reset

Here are a few things that I've worked out with ST.
I can answer a few question you have.
1. To start you can click on the prestress button which starts at 0 which should be the BACK of the bow not the belly.
2. You can modify the result with Design Operations but I prefer to hand enter numbers in the Modified profile to shape the limb the way I want. To me it is simpler. Though the "Offset X & Y" is handy to move the limb up for a 3-piece bow.
3. You can rotate the limb using the rotate function (be sure you have the start at 0 and the end at the last number of sections your using) to try different limb pad angles.
4. Then you set your draw length to what you want and the brace height plus 1.75" because it's measuring from the back of the bow.
This should get you started. What really helped me was to take a bow I owned and copied it on a grid and got the measurements from it. Then I hand entered those in the Modified Profile and experimented with that.
5. The poundage that comes out on the Report page is only 1/2 the actual weight. It doesn't say that anywhere in the manual but I was told by Alan that is the weight that show.
6. Say your weight that comes up in the report is too heavy you can decrease the thickness proportionately using lets say .9 in the Design Operations and clicking on the thickness choice which will reduce the thickness 10%
Clear as mud right?     :knothead:    Play with it and watch the outcomes.     :D

By the way you will need excel 2002 or newer to use any of the versions of supertiller above 60. Dave521 would you mind putting the older version on the site your setting up so those who don't have the newer versions of excel can work with ST. If so shoot me an e-mail and I'll get you a copy if you don't have it.
Thanks

Benbow,  that's a beautiful full draw profile!

I would have no problem putting up the older version, I just need to get ahold of it. if someone would send it to me I would be glad to put it up, I am going to start building the page tonight, but can still set up for downloads

Dave521

the SuperTiller V6R6 is up and as soon as I can get ahold of the older version I will post it, this is just a temporary look for the sight.
